Micro Needling

The alternative to surgery

As we age, the body’s natural production of supporting cells which help keep us looking youthful, naturally diminish; leading to wrinkles and skin sagging.

Micro needling is a treatment which helps to kick start the reparative process. When your skin starts repairing itself it turbocharges your body's natural ability to produce collagen and elastin, which provides that firm plumpness.

Microneedling therapy is a very simple procedure. The treatment itself involves the use of a hand-held device to create tiny punctures in the skin (from 0.5mm to 2.55mm in diameter) using micro-fine needles. The micro damage then triggers the body’s wound healing process, stimulating collagen and elastin production.

Once the tiny punctures are present, it is the perfect time to enhance the anti-ageing effects with topically applied products such as hyaluronic acid, or vitamin C. The application of these products during the treatment itself means they will penetrate the skin much more deeply than usual.

At Springmount Dental & Aesthetics, we are proud to use the market leader in devices to provide Microneedling – The Dermapen.

What CAN I expecT?

Prior to all treatments here at Springmount Dental & Aesthetics, you’ll receive a thorough consultation to ensure that Microneedling is the right treatment for you.

The procedure can feel a little uncomfortable, so to combat this we prepare your skin with a topical anaesthetic prior to the treatment.

The treatment itself takes around 30 minutes and is performed by either Malcolm or Katie. Following treatment, you will be advised of a skincare regimen to follow for 7 days to help you get the most out of your treatment.

Your skin may appear red and sunburnt initially, then may appear dry in areas towards the end of the first week.

How many, and how often will I need to have treatment?

The number of sessions depends on your skin condition, but typically you're looking at 3-5 treatments in 4-6 week intervals with maintenance treatments every 6-9 months, if you wish to maintain a healthy glow.
